LIV Process Unveils Microbial Visualization Tech for Infection Control
LIV Process has introduced a patented microbial visualization technology at IDWeek 2025, announced in a press release. The Philadelphia-based biotech developed a system that makes the pathogen Clostridioides difficile visible on surfaces without the use of a microscope.
The technology uses a proprietary solution that binds to resilient spores and illuminates them under specific light wavelengths. This allows hospitals to identify contamination that is otherwise invisible to the naked eye, helping environmental services teams verify cleaning effectiveness and improve infection prevention.
C. diff is a leading cause of healthcare-associated infections in the United States, affecting nearly 500,000 patients annually. LIV Process is collaborating with several major health systems, including University of Virginia Health, University Health San Antonio, UMass Memorial Health, and Baptist Health, to validate and expand the use of its technology.
While the company’s current focus is on hospital environments, it plans to explore future applications in home care, long-term care, food safety, and other public settings where surface contamination poses a risk.
