LUNGevity Awards $2 Million for Lung Nodule Risk Studies
LUNGevity and the Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research said in a press release they will invest $2 million in two studies focused on indeterminate pulmonary nodules. Each project will receive $1 million over three years to improve assessments of whether nodules found on chest CT scans indicate early lung cancer.
Steven Dubinett at UCLA will study a method that combines CT image analysis with a blood test based on cell free DNA methylation. Researchers will validate the method in 500 patients at UCLA and Veterans Affairs hospitals.
Lecia Sequist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School will lead the RESOLVE clinical trial. The study will test Sybil, an open source AI model that estimates lung cancer risk from CT scans, in 340 adults ages 35 to 75 with low risk pulmonary nodules.
