Lutnick Says Anthropic Has Repaired White House Ties

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Anthropic has met the administration's requests and is "back on the right side," according to Forbes. Lutnick also said the Trump Administration trusts the AI company.

The administration had clashed with Anthropic over its restrictions on military uses of Claude, including domestic mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to stop using Anthropic, while the Pentagon designated the company as a supply chain risk.

A federal judge ruled in favor of Anthropic in August, finding that the Pentagon had illegally punished the company. Anthropic also has another lawsuit pending over a separate Pentagon supply chain designation.

Anthropic cofounder Tom Brown appeared with Lutnick at a G20 technology event in North Carolina on Wednesday. Brown discussed the economic role of data centers and called for governments to grant permits for their construction.
