Masimo Gets FDA Clearance for AFib Detection on Radius VSM
Masimo announced in a press release that it received FDA 510(k) clearance for an atrial fibrillation detection feature on its Radius VSM patient monitor. The feature is part of the smartSET pulse oximetry platform and continuously analyzes photoplethysmography pulse waveform data for rhythms suggestive of AFib.
The feature is intended to support screening decisions for adults and indicate when an electrocardiogram or telemetry assessment may be appropriate. It does not replace ECG confirmation. In Masimo's own clinical validation testing, the feature showed 97% sensitivity and 100% specificity, measured against classifications from three clinicians who reviewed concurrently collected ECG strips.
SmartSET also includes a previously cleared AI enabled feature for detecting patterns associated with opioid induced respiratory depression. That capability analyzes oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and perfusion index, then issues escalating notifications through Radius VSM.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
