Wissen Research forecasts the medical image analysis software market will grow from $4.2 billion in 2026 to $6.3 billion by 2031 as healthcare providers adopt AI for image interpretation.

The global medical image analysis software market will grow from $4.2 billion in 2026 to $6.3 billion by 2031, according to a report that Wissen Research shared in a press release. The forecast represents an annual compound growth rate of 8.5%.

The report attributes the projected growth to rising volumes of CT, MRI, X ray, ultrasound and mammography procedures. Hospitals and diagnostic centers are also adopting AI and computer vision software for anomaly detection, anatomy segmentation, disease classification and quantitative analysis.

CT held the largest market share by imaging modality in 2025, while reconstruction and visualization led by software function. Detection and localization software is expected to record the fastest growth. North America held the largest regional share in 2025, while Asia Pacific is forecast to grow the fastest through 2031.

Adoption challenges include regulatory reviews, clinical validation and integration with existing hospital systems. Model performance can also vary across patient populations, imaging equipment and healthcare settings when training data lacks sufficient diversity.
