MeetKai and Albania to Establish Joint Venture for National Sovereign AI
MeetKai and Albania’s National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture for building and operating a national sovereign AI ecosystem for Albania, announced in a press release.
The initiative includes the development of Albanian language reasoning models, sovereign infrastructure, and cross government AI integration. The plan also covers new AI applications for public services and economic sectors considered national priorities.
The partnership builds on existing digital efforts such as the e-Albania program and Diella systems, expanding them with AI capabilities that are developed and deployed within Albania. Early focus areas include digital government services, citizen interaction, education, and healthcare, with later expansion into other public sector domains.
The joint venture will support local research and talent development and implement a coordinated structure across ministries and institutions. Its goal is to ensure that Albania can operate, maintain, and expand its AI foundation independently.
