Mistral AI Acquires Emmi AI to Expand Industrial Engineering Capabilities
European artificial intelligence company Mistral AI has acquired Austrian startup Emmi AI, announced in a press release. The acquisition aims to create a unified AI stack for industrial engineering and strengthen Mistral’s presence in Europe.
Emmi AI, based in Linz, develops Physics AI models used in industrial simulation and engineering workflows across energy, automotive, semiconductor, and aerospace sectors. The company’s 30-member team of researchers and engineers will join Mistral’s Science and Applied AI divisions in May 2026. Linz will also become an official Mistral office, alongside locations in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Munich, San Francisco, and Singapore.
Mistral said the combination of its AI platform with Emmi’s expertise will expand its capabilities in real time simulation and digital twin creation. The company plans to continue hiring in Austria, Germany, and Lithuania to support industrial clients in manufacturing and research.
According to company executives, the acquisition positions Mistral as a key partner for manufacturers in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and semiconductors, and supports Europe’s broader push to advance industrial AI innovation.
