Mixx Launches SxC Optical Connector for AI Racks

Mixx Technologies has launched the SxC Connector, which can terminate up to 24,576 optical fibers in a single rack unit.

Mixx Technologies announced in a press release the SxC Connector, an optical connector that can terminate up to 24,576 fibers in a single rack unit. The company plans to demonstrate the connector at SEMICON Taiwan beginning September 2.

Each connector supports up to 64 fibers and can use either single mode fiber or polarization maintaining fiber. The same design can be installed on a faceplate for front plane connections or seated in a bulkhead for backplane connections.

Mixx can combine 16 connectors in one bulkhead to terminate 1,024 fibers within an area of less than 800 square millimeters. A rack unit with 24 bulkheads reaches the stated capacity of 24,576 fibers. The connector uses a glass ferrule and is the first product in the SxC connector family for the company’s HBxIO platform.
