NEXTDC Halts Trading Over Delayed Power at Melbourne Data Center
NEXTDC requested an immediate trading halt while it assesses delayed power supply at its M3 data center in Melbourne, according to Bloomberg. The company asked for the suspension to remain until it issues an announcement or trading begins on Wednesday.
M3 is partially operating: 42 megawatts came online during the 2026 financial year, with another 165 megawatts under development. NEXTDC is assessing the delay's impact, including possible implications for its fiscal 2027 guidance, while Citigroup analysts estimated that the issue could reduce fiscal 2027 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization by as much as A$25 million.
Electricity distributor Jemena paused work in September on power lines intended to connect M3 after residents and local government raised concerns about concrete poles planned for residential streets. NEXTDC did not specify the cause of the delay, while Citigroup analysts said it likely relates to the paused work.
