North Korea Tests Torpedo With AI Targeting

Oct 17, 2026
North Korea tested a new torpedo that uses artificial intelligence for target detection and guidance, according to state media.

North Korea tested a new underwater torpedo system on Thursday, NDTV reports, citing state news agency KCNA. State media described the test as successful and said it verified upgrades to the weapon's propulsion technology.

According to KCNA, the high speed precision guided torpedo uses artificial intelligence for target detection and guidance; the claim could not be independently verified. KCNA said the propulsion technology was developed through more than 180 tests over five years.

The test assessed propulsion efficiency and the performance of the torpedo's rocket propulsion system. It followed a North Korean test of two types of submarine launched strategic cruise missiles on Wednesday.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
