NTT DATA Reportedly in Final Talks to Build Anthropic Data Center in Japan

NTT DATA is reportedly in final talks to build Anthropic its first dedicated Japan data center in Osaka, at a cost of up to about $6.3 billion, the Nikkei reported.

NTT DATA is in the final stages of talks to build a data center in Osaka, western Japan, for Anthropic, the Nikkei reported, citing multiple sources, according to Reuters. It would be Anthropic's first dedicated facility in Japan.

Construction costs could reach up to 1 trillion yen, or about $6.3 billion, the report says. The data center would have a power intake capacity of up to 500 megawatts, with partial operations starting as early as 2028.

NTT DATA and Anthropic aim to sign an agreement by the end of fiscal 2026, which ends on March 31. NTT declined to comment.
