Open Compute Project and iMasons Introduce Carbon Disclosure Specification for Data Centers
The Open Compute Project Foundation, in collaboration with the iMasons Climate Accord, has released a new framework for carbon reporting in data centers, announced in a press release. The Embodied Carbon Disclosure – OCP Base Specification provides a standardized method for reporting the carbon impact of data center equipment.
The specification was developed with contributions from major industry participants including Google, Meta, Microsoft Corporation, and Schneider Electric. It aims to align reporting practices and reduce duplication across the digital infrastructure supply chain.
By establishing a common taxonomy for carbon disclosure, the initiative is intended to simplify environmental reporting for both buyers and suppliers in the data center ecosystem. The collaboration leverages OCP’s community-driven model and iMasons’ network of industry stakeholders to promote scalable sustainability standards for infrastructure supporting AI and high-performance computing.
