OpenAI Says ChatGPT Ads Reach $1 Billion Annualized Run Rate
OpenAI said its ChatGPT advertising business has reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate after it began testing ads in February, MarketWatch reports.
The company said tens of thousands of advertisers have paid to place ads alongside ChatGPT answers. Ads are shown to users on the free version of ChatGPT and to subscribers on the ChatGPT Go plan, which costs $8 a month.
OpenAI also said businesses in India, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa can now buy ChatGPT ads more easily. The company plans to add more ad tools, buying options and formats for advertisers.
OpenAI previously said its ads program reached a $100 million annualized revenue run rate in March. The company has set a target of $2.5 billion in ad revenue by the end of 2026.
