OpenAI to Release New Open Language Model
OpenAI plans to release its first open language model since GPT-2 in the coming months, announced on their website. The company is seeking input from developers, researchers, and the broader community to enhance the model's utility. OpenAI has published a feedback form on its website, inviting suggestions on what features users would like to see in the new model.
The upcoming model will feature reasoning capabilities similar to OpenAI's o3-mini, and the company intends to host developer events to gather feedback and demonstrate early prototypes. The first event is scheduled to take place in San Francisco, with subsequent sessions planned for Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged the need for a revised open-source strategy, noting that the company will evaluate the new model according to its preparedness framework before release. This move comes as OpenAI faces competition from other AI labs like DeepSeek, which have successfully adopted open approaches to model deployment.

Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
