OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Sol at One Fifth of Astra Token Pricing

OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Sol in a company post, saying the model approaches GPT-6 Astra across coding, computer use and professional work at one fifth of Astra's standard input and output token prices. It upgrades GPT-6 Sol, which OpenAI released last week.

GPT-6.1 Sol matches Astra on the DeepSWE v1.1 coding benchmark at roughly one fifth of the cost per task. On the OSWorld 2.0 offline test, it comes within 2.1 percentage points of Astra at roughly one seventh of the cost. At low reasoning effort, its factual error rate on difficult prompts fell from 11.4% for GPT-6 Sol to 7.7%.

The model is available through the OpenAI API as gpt-6.1-sol and in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users. API pricing is $2 per million input tokens, $0.10 per million cached input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. OpenAI plans to add GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast in the coming days, with token generation up to eight times faster in Codex.
