OpenAI is seeking at least $30 billion in funding at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion, up from earlier discussions that put its valuation near $1.2 trillion, Reuters reports. The valuation would exclude the new capital raised.

The talks are at an early stage, and the terms could change. Investors are driving demand for the round, which would provide bridge financing in place of an initial public offering.

OpenAI raised $122 billion in committed capital in March at an $852 billion valuation. CEO Sam Altman said earlier in September that the company would not go public in 2026, citing concerns about AI safety.
