OpenAI Speeds Up $30 Billion Funding Round Before Anthropic IPO

Oct 20, 2026
OpenAI is seeking about $30 billion at a valuation above $1.4 trillion before Anthropic's expected IPO in November.

OpenAI is accelerating a funding round of about $30 billion before Anthropic's expected IPO in the middle of November, according to Reuters. The financing could value OpenAI at more than $1.4 trillion.

Existing investors, including SoftBank Group and Abu Dhabi based MGX, are discussing participation. Investors familiar with the company say OpenAI also needs capital for its infrastructure commitments and balance sheet ahead of its own planned 2027 listing.

OpenAI told investors, according to one of the people, that its annualized revenue reached $50 billion following the release of GPT-6 Astra and could rise to $70 billion by the end of 2026. Anthropic's annualized revenue reached about $65 billion by July, while its planned IPO has prompted investors to compare the companies' finances and valuations.

The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
