OpenStack Hibiscus Adds Confidential Computing and AI Infrastructure Support

OpenStack 2026.2 Hibiscus expands confidential computing, accelerator management and storage support for AI and high performance computing workloads.

OpenInfra Foundation released OpenStack 2026.2 Hibiscus, the software's 34th release, in a press release. The update expands support for confidential computing, accelerated workloads and infrastructure management at scale.

Nova adds support for AMD SEV-SNP and Intel TDX, providing hardware backed memory encryption, workload isolation and attestation. Nova and Cyborg can also manage mediated devices such as virtual GPUs, while Cyborg adds access controls and hardware protections for accelerator resources.

Manila adds support for Weka and Lustre parallel file systems for AI, machine learning and high performance computing workloads. Ironic and Nova improve bare metal resource tracking, while Neutron reduces the memory used for monitoring high availability routers by more than 15 times.

Around 600 contributors delivered 11,500 code changes during the six month release cycle. Hibiscus is not a SLURP release, so operators using the April 2026 Gazpacho release can skip it and upgrade directly to OpenStack 2027.1 Indri, which is expected in March 2027.
