Origin Raises $20 Million for Autonomous Construction Robots
Origin emerged from stealth with $20 million in funding, according to Inc42. Accel and Zacua Ventures led the round, with participation from Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures, Z21, and angel investors associated with Anduril, Skild AI, 1X, and Tesla.
Origin will use the capital to deploy its OG-1 robot, conduct customer pilots in the US and Europe, and build a fleet of 150 construction robots by the end of 2027. Zacua Ventures founding partner Vivin Hegde joined the startup's board as a director.
OG-1 automates wall finishing tasks including applying compound, sanding, and priming. Its software combines a construction action model with systems for task planning, autonomous navigation, and movement control. Origin says it has deployed robots at construction sites in New York and is exploring pilots in Germany, Sweden, France, and Saudi Arabia.
