Orqa and Remote Robotic Systems Sign $150M Deal to Expand Drone and AI Production in Canada

July 06, 2026
Remote Robotic Systems and Orqa have entered a $150 million partnership to manufacture drone and AI systems in Canada, marking Canada's entry into the EU's SAFE initiative and creating up to 100 tech jobs.

Remote Robotic Systems and Orqa have signed an exclusive partnership valued at 150 million Canadian dollars to expand production of Orqa drone systems and AI components in Canada, announced in a press release. The agreement was signed in Toronto with the Prime Ministers of Canada and Croatia in attendance, signaling international support for the collaboration.

The partnership will enable the manufacturing of Orqa’s Defense Transformation Platform in Canada, aiming to develop sovereign defense and drone capabilities. Production goals include scaling from 1,000 systems per month by mid 2027 to 10,000 systems monthly by 2029. The plan also includes an initial 20 million Canadian dollar investment to expand Remote Robotic Systems’ production facilities in Ottawa and Toronto.

The agreement is expected to create around 100 new technology jobs by the fourth quarter of 2027. It covers technology transfer and production licensing, capability development, AI integration, and the establishment of a joint technology hub. This marks Canada as the first non-EU country to join the European Union’s Security Action For Europe initiative.
