Paid Secures $21.6 Million to Advance AI Agent Billing
Paid, the AI agent monetization startup founded by Manny Medina, has raised $21.6 million in a seed round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, announced in a press release. This funding round brings the total capital raised by the London-based company to $33.3 million.
Paid offers a unique approach to billing for AI agents by enabling agent makers to charge based on the value their algorithms provide, a model known as 'results-based billing.' This method contrasts with traditional per-user fees, which are not suitable for AI agents that operate in the background and incur usage costs from model and cloud providers.
The startup's platform is already seeing success with early customers like Artisan and IFS, who report significant revenue growth after implementing Paid's monetization strategies. The company aims to provide the necessary economic infrastructure to support the growing AI agent economy, which is expected to contribute significantly to the global economy by 2030.
