Paul Christiano Named 2026 Hinton Lectures Lecturer
The AI Safety Foundation named Paul Christiano the 2026 lecturer for The Hinton Lectures, the organization said in a press release. The three night series will run from November 9 to 11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto and will also be broadcast online.
Christiano was an early researcher at OpenAI, where he developed reinforcement learning from human feedback. He is the founder and executive director of the Alignment Research Center, a nonprofit that studies how machine learning systems make decisions. Manulife Financial Corporation announced it is the presenting partner of this year's lecture series, citing its own commitment to responsible AI.
Christiano also serves as a senior technical adviser at the Center for AI Standards and Innovation within the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. The lectures will be moderated by writer and podcaster Sinead Bovell, and tickets are available to the public.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
