PreOncology Launches AI-Based Early Cancer Detection Program
PreOncology has introduced what it describes as the first medical-grade, oncologist-led cancer prevention and early detection program in the United States, announced in a press release. The initiative establishes a new medical specialty called PreOncology, which focuses on identifying cancer before stage I through an integrated model combining genomics, artificial intelligence, and clinical review.
The PreOncology Program uses the Stage Alpha Operating System, a clinical intelligence platform designed to monitor biological changes related to cancer risk. The system analyzes whole genome sequencing, clinical and family histories, lifestyle data, biomarkers, and machine learning outputs to create individualized cancer risk assessments. It then generates personalized surveillance strategies and facilitates oncologist-led review of early biological signals.
The platform’s Dynamic Risk Engine is trained on approximately 3.1 million de-identified patient records, including data from over 611,000 individuals in lung cancer studies. Screening technologies are continuously evaluated for sensitivity, specificity, and clinical utility before being included in patient monitoring plans.
The program is currently available through participating concierge and direct primary care practices in Florida, with plans for national expansion. PreOncology intends to further develop its AI-based clinical decision support software and collaborate with health systems, employers, and payers to broaden access to personalized cancer prevention.
