Prometheus Hyperscale Wins Permit for 1.25 GW Wyoming Data Center Campus
Prometheus Hyperscale has received unanimous approval from the Uinta County Board of Commissioners for a Conditional Use Permit to construct its flagship data center campus near Evanston, Wyoming, announced in a press release. The 506-acre site is designed for an initial capacity of 1.25 gigawatts and could expand to 5 gigawatts.
The Evanston facility will function as a fully islanded microgrid, producing its own power through natural gas engines and turbines. It will not connect to the public utility grid. The site’s closed-loop liquid cooling system will use minimal water, with annual consumption comparable to about 15 homes.
The University of Wyoming Center for Business and Economic Analysis projects a total economic impact of 3.1 billion dollars through 2032, including 184 million dollars in state tax revenue during construction and 53 million dollars annually once operations begin. Construction is expected to start within six months of final permitting, with a phased buildout over four to five years.
This Wyoming project is the first of several campuses planned by Prometheus Hyperscale, including a site near Casper, Wyoming, and another in Texas being developed with ENGIE and Conduit Power.
