QNX Unveils Functional Safety Platform for AI Robotics
QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited, has announced a new Functional Safety (FuSa) platform for advanced robotic systems, announced in a press release. This platform, developed in collaboration with Intel and NexCOBOT, aims to consolidate robotic and safety controls onto a single NexCOBOT board, providing manufacturers with cost savings, lower power consumption, and improved thermal efficiency.
The platform is built on Intel Core i7 processors and QNX OS for Safety, targeting the growing demand for integrated and safety-certified solutions in industrial automation and robotics applications. It offers enhanced computing power and virtualization for AI-driven vision systems and real-time motion control, while meeting safety certification standards.
The unified hardware-software FuSa platform is designed to handle compute-intensive workloads and expedite certification processes, reducing time to market and compliance costs. This makes it an ideal choice for developing AI-driven robotic systems, including humanoids and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) operating in unstructured environments.
NexCOBOT's safety modular applications, which are part of this platform, are designed to meet specific industrial requirements by offering flexible and customizable solutions. These applications adhere to international safety standards, enabling businesses to adapt to evolving safety demands.
