Qualcomm Acquires Arduino and Launches AI-Ready Uno Q Board
Semiconductor company Qualcomm Technologies has acquired Arduino, bringing the open-source hardware platform under its umbrella to strengthen its edge AI ecosystem. The deal, announced in early October 2025, follows Qualcomm’s earlier acquisitions of Edge Impulse and Foundries.io, expanding its full-stack platform for AI and IoT development.
As part of the announcement, the companies unveiled the Arduino Uno Q, a next-generation single-board computer that combines Qualcomm’s Dragonwing QRB2210 processor with an STMicroelectronics STM32U585 microcontroller. The dual-processor design allows the board to run Linux-based applications alongside real-time control tasks, enabling advanced robotics, IoT, and AI-driven projects.
The Uno Q features up to 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. Two models are planned: a 2 GB version priced at $44 shipping on October 25, 2025, and a 4 GB version priced at $59 expected by the end of the year. The board supports the new Arduino App Lab, a unified development environment for coding, AI model training, and deployment.
Arduino will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, maintaining its open-source tools and brand identity. Qualcomm stated that the partnership aims to make advanced AI and computing technologies more accessible to the global developer community, from hobbyists to industrial innovators.
