Qualcomm Develops Data Center CPUs with Nvidia Technology
Qualcomm Technologies has announced its return to the data center CPU market by developing custom processors that incorporate technology from Nvidia. This initiative aims to enhance the communication between Qualcomm's CPUs and Nvidia's AI chips, which are a staple in the AI industry.
Qualcomm's renewed focus on data center CPUs follows its previous efforts in the 2010s, which were halted due to financial and legal challenges. The company has since acquired a team of former Apple chip designers, reviving its ambitions in this sector. Qualcomm has also confirmed a letter of understanding with Saudi Arabian AI firm Humain to develop a custom data center CPU.
The new processors will utilize Nvidia's technology to ensure rapid communication with Nvidia's GPUs, optimizing performance for AI applications. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon highlighted the shared vision of achieving high-performance, energy-efficient computing in data centers.
