Rendezvous Robotics Secures $3M for In-Space Assembly Technology
Rendezvous Robotics has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding to advance its TESSERAE technology for modular, autonomous in-space assembly, announced in a press release. The funding round was led by Aurelia Foundry and 8090 Industries, with participation from other investors.
The company, co-founded by Dr. Ariel Ekblaw, Phil Frank, and Joe Landon, aims to commercialize its patented TESSERAE technology, which was developed at MIT. This technology involves flat-packed, modular systems that autonomously assemble scalable infrastructure directly in orbit, overcoming the limitations of traditional rocket fairings.
Rendezvous Robotics plans to demonstrate its fifth-generation TESSERAE system on the International Space Station (ISS) in early 2026. This will be the company's third orbital demonstration, following successful tests on parabolic flights and Blue Origin's New Shepard.
The pre-seed funding will support team expansion and the transition from demonstrations to large-scale platforms for national security, commerce, and exploration. The company expects to share additional funding details in the coming weeks.
