Rentosertib Study Finds Lower Predicted Biological Age in IPF Trial
Insilico Medicine said in a press release about a Nature Biotechnology study that its Rentosertib candidate produced lower predicted biological ages across six proteomic aging clocks. Researchers applied the clocks to data from 42 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis who participated in a Phase IIa trial.
All six models estimated lower biological ages for patients who received rentosertib compared with placebo. The strongest result appeared after four weeks among patients taking 30 mg twice daily, with an estimated reduction of about three to four years and up to six years under one model.
The study also found dose dependent improvement in forced vital capacity, a measure of lung function. The dose with the largest lung function improvement differed from the dose with the strongest predicted age reduction, suggesting the two measurements were partly independent.
Insilico identified the drug target TNIK through its target discovery platform and designed rentosertib with its Chemistry42 generative chemistry platform. The candidate has entered Phase III clinical development for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in China.
