Replit Makes OpenAI Default for Replit Agent
Replit now uses OpenAI as its preferred provider for Replit Agent, according to TechCrunch. CEO Amjad Masad cited performance, cost and the companies' partnership as reasons for the change.
Masad initially said Replit was no longer working with Anthropic, but later clarified that customers can still select Claude and other supported models. OpenAI's ChatGPT is now the default option.
Replit previously relied on Claude to power its platform and was recently among Anthropic's five largest customers, Masad said. An unnamed source familiar with the companies disputed his initial claim and said their partnership remains in place.
