ROHM SiC MOSFET Adopted in Battery Backup Units for AI Servers
ROHM Semiconductor announced in a press release that its 750V SiC MOSFET has been adopted in battery backup units for AI server power supplies. The shift toward high-voltage direct current architectures in AI data centers is driving demand for components that can handle increased power and voltage levels.
The selected product, the SCT4013DLL, is installed in the power supply section of a +400V / -400V architecture for AI servers. It features a maximum junction temperature of 175°C, providing stable operation in high-temperature environments where power density and heat generation are elevated.
ROHM stated that its 750V rated SiC MOSFETs are also suitable for emerging 800VDC systems, where battery pack voltages reach about 560V. These SiC devices enable efficient control of high voltages and large currents with minimal power loss.
The company plans to continue expanding its range of power devices using SiC, GaN, and silicon to support the growing power requirements of AI servers and data centers.
