Scandit Launches Vision AI for Self Checkout Loss Prevention
Scandit launches Self-Checkout Loss Prevention, a vision AI system that detects accidental and intentional losses at self checkout, the company announced in a press release. Scandit says the system is designed to recover or deter more than 75% of self checkout losses.
The software detects missed scans, intentionally skipped items, products left in a trolley and abandoned transactions. It displays prompts that let shoppers correct issues and alerts an attendant when needed.
The system processes video at each checkout station and works with built in, standard security and off the shelf cameras. It does not require dedicated servers or purpose built AI hardware, and its analysis focuses on items and transaction activity rather than facial or biometric identification. Scandit positions the product alongside its Age Verified Self-Checkout system.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
