Sean Parker and CEO Prem Akkaraju are shifting Stability AI toward music tools after helping rescue the company in 2024.

Sean Parker and Prem Akkaraju are rebuilding Stability AI around AI tools for music professionals, according to TechCrunch. Parker joined an $80 million rescue of the company in 2024, while Akkaraju became CEO after founder Emad Mostaque left.

Stability AI raised $76 million in August from investors including Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group. The music companies also licensed their catalogs for model training as part of the deal.

The company has released three audio models and music editing software. Its tools can generate complete instrumental tracks or short audio clips from text prompts. Parker said a planned update will also let users guide generation by humming melodies or beatboxing drum patterns.
