ShunYun Technology and NewPhotonics Partner for Volume PIC Manufacturing
ShunYun Technology and NewPhotonics have announced a strategic partnership for the volume manufacturing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs), as stated in a press release. This collaboration aims to meet the increasing demand for optical interconnect solutions in data centers, driven by the forecasted growth of Ethernet pluggable optics to over 100 million units by 2028.
ShunYun Technology, known for its expertise in optical transceiver manufacturing, will leverage its supply chain and quality standards to serve as a manufacturing hub for NewPhotonics' NPG product line. The partnership will focus on the production of the NPG PIC transmitter on chips for 1.6T DSP-based transceivers and the 800G and 1.6T LPO+™ optical signal processing chip.
The collaboration underscores a shared vision for scalable manufacturing and improved module reliability, with ShunYun providing essential post-silicon manufacturing processes such as bumping, stealth dicing, back grinding, and testing. This partnership is positioned as a critical step in delivering innovative photonic IC solutions to meet the high demands of hyperscalers and AI factories worldwide.
