Sino Biological Supports Tencent AI Lab Protein Design Study Published in Nature Communications
Sino Biological announced that its gene synthesis and cell free protein expression workflow was used by Tencent AI for Life Sciences Lab in a study published in Nature Communications, according to a press release. The collaboration enabled rapid validation of AI designed proteins with improved activity, stability, and multifunctionality.
The study introduced an Ontology Reinforcement Iteration framework that combines protein ontology with reinforcement learning based on experimental feedback. Data from protein expression levels and functional activity were fed back into the model to refine sequence design accuracy.
Tencent researchers used Sino Biological's XPressMAX Cell Free Protein Synthesis Kit to accelerate protein expression and functional screening. The workflow supported fast design, build, and test cycles, resulting in a lysozyme with more than 100 fold higher activity than the natural enzyme, a thermostable chitinase active at 85 degrees Celsius, and bifunctional enzymes with enhanced performance.
The XPressMAX kit allows protein expression in as little as three hours, supports various DNA templates, and is suitable for high throughput and industrial applications.
