Sortera Doubles Aluminum Processing Capacity with New Tennessee Facility
Sortera has begun full operations at its new aluminum recycling facility in Lebanon, Tennessee, announced in a press release. The site doubles the company’s total processing capacity to about 240 million pounds annually and mirrors the capabilities of its original facility in Markle, Indiana.
The Lebanon plant uses Sortera’s proprietary AI sorting technology to transform mixed alloy scrap into high-purity material for the automotive, construction, and aerospace sectors. The operation is located near the Southern manufacturing corridor and aims to strengthen the domestic supply chain for recycled aluminum.
According to the company, the facility achieved full operational status on schedule and within budget. It produced saleable high-purity material within its first week of operation, showing the maturity of Sortera’s AI platform. The company stated that the new site supports regional customers with localized supply while reducing transport emissions and energy use compared to primary aluminum production.
