Spotify Filters 50 Million AI Slop and Spam Tracks From Recommendations

Oct 20, 2026
Spotify filtered more than 50 million tracks identified as AI slop or spam from its recommendations during 2026.

Spotify filtered more than 50 million tracks identified as AI slop or spam from its recommendations so far this year, Music Business Worldwide reports. The company disclosed the figure in an October 20 update on protections introduced in September 2025. That is on top of more than 75 million spam tracks it said in September 2025 it had removed from the platform entirely.

Spotify said it updated its recommendation system over the past six months after reviewing tracks that listeners skipped, ignored, or flagged. Its detection process combines listener activity, feedback, upload patterns, metadata, and several third party AI detection tools.

The company also monitors mass uploads, duplicate tracks, search manipulation, playlist networks, and artificially short tracks. Spotify said tracks with a high probability of being generated by AI are 10 times more likely to fall below its threshold of 1,000 streams for recording royalties.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
