TAE Technologies and UKAEA Form Joint Venture to Advance Fusion Accelerator Technology

December 17, 2025
TAE Technologies and the UK Atomic Energy Authority have formed a joint venture, TAE Beam UK, to commercialize advanced particle accelerator technology for fusion and other applications. The venture will operate from UKAEA’s Culham Campus in Oxfordshire, focusing initially on developing neutral beams for fusion energy systems.

TAE Technologies and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) have announced a new joint venture to commercialize advanced particle accelerator technology for global markets, according to a press release. The venture, named TAE Beam UK, will focus on developing neutral beams for fusion and adapting the technology for non-fusion uses such as cancer therapy, food safety, and homeland security.

TAE Beam UK will operate from UKAEA’s Culham Campus in Oxfordshire, leveraging the UK’s long-standing expertise in fusion research. The partnership will combine TAE’s experience in neutral beam technology—used in its fusion machines to heat and stabilize plasma—with UKAEA’s operational knowledge gained from decades of managing the Joint European Torus (JET) facility.

The new entity aims to design, manufacture, and service neutral beam systems for a range of fusion approaches. It will also explore applications of TAE’s accelerator technology in medical and industrial sectors. The collaboration is expected to create high-skilled jobs and strengthen the fusion technology supply chain in the UK.

TAE already operates in the UK through its subsidiary TAE Power Solutions, based in the West Midlands. The establishment of TAE Beam UK further expands the company’s footprint in the UK’s fusion and advanced energy ecosystem.
