TARS Unveils DexHand and AWE 3.0 at ICRA 2026 in Vienna
TARS has introduced its DexHand robotic system and AWE 3.0 embodied AI model at ICRA 2026 in Vienna, announced in a press release. The company is presenting its technology under the theme "Mind to Hand" from June 1 to 5 at the Vienna Congress and Convention Center.
DexHand is built at a one-to-one human scale with 21 degrees of freedom. It integrates micro-cameras and elastomer tactile sensors that capture detailed textures and interpret tactile data to recognize properties such as slipperiness, roughness, and hardness in real time. The robotic hand can perform all 26 English alphabet gestures with precise finger control.
At the exhibition booth, TARS is demonstrating its A1 robot equipped with DexHand and powered by AWE 3.0. The robot performs multi-step tasks such as autonomously packing a backpack and inserting sub-millimeter wire harnesses while correcting errors when conditions change. These demonstrations highlight real time replanning and task completion without human input.
On June 4, TARS co-founder and chief scientist Dr. Ding Wenchao will deliver a keynote titled "General Physical Intelligence," outlining the company’s research and technology roadmap. According to the company, over 80 percent of its team members hold advanced degrees, and it has published more than 40 papers in robotics-related fields.
