TCL Introduces X5 5G CPE With AI Network Controls
TCL introduced the X5 5G CPE in a press release at Network X 2026, adding an AI agent that accepts natural language requests to manage supported network settings. The company says the agent can check network conditions, prioritize traffic, switch modes and control compatible devices.
The X5 uses AI models to select antenna configurations, detect Wi-Fi congestion and adjust channels. Its 8Rx design combines four directional and four omnidirectional C band antennas. TCL reports up to 51% higher downstream speed than a 4Rx design in laboratory tests, while 3GPP Release 18 support provides a theoretical peak download speed of 7.01 Gbps.
A closed loop management system monitors Wi-Fi, local networks, mobile connectivity and system operation. It can diagnose supported faults, apply recovery actions and verify results. The device also identifies supported gaming, streaming and video call traffic for priority handling, adjusts power modes based on use, flags unknown devices and provides parental and guest access controls.
