Tesseract Ventures Selected by Defense Innovation Unit for Autonomous Drone Delivery Prototype

Jul 15, 2026
Tesseract Ventures has been chosen by the Defense Innovation Unit to develop a prototype for the Containerized Autonomous Drone Delivery System, focusing on scalable autonomous operations in complex environments.

Tesseract Ventures has been selected by the Defense Innovation Unit to advance in the Containerized Autonomous Drone Delivery System (CADDS) prototype project, announced in a press release. The initiative seeks to improve the deployment and management of unmanned aerial systems for military use in contested or remote environments.

The company will demonstrate its modular autonomous platform, called NOMAD, which enables container-based drone operations across air, land, and sea. The system incorporates autonomous mission management and secure data sharing to control large drone fleets with limited human input.

The CADDS project aims to move from one-operator-per-aircraft models toward scalable autonomous systems. The Department of War’s program emphasizes modular architecture and rapid technology integration. As part of the prototype effort, Tesseract Ventures will participate in demonstrations to validate operational performance under the Commercial Solutions Opening process.
