TIER IV and TUM Open Autoware Research Center
TIER IV and the Technical University of Munich have established the TUM Autoware Research Center through a multi year collaboration, the organizations announced in a press release. The center will research autonomous driving systems based on the open source Autoware software.
The work will focus on safety, evaluation and scalability. Researchers will combine driving models based on deep learning with rule based supervision, including a verifiable safety system that can intervene when driving behavior breaches defined constraints.
The center will also create testing and verification methods for simulations, offline analysis and vehicle operation. Three TUM research groups will participate, covering automotive technology, cyber physical systems and autonomous vehicle systems, while the program will also support doctoral training and benchmark challenges.
