Unisys Publishes AI Evaluation Framework for Drug Repurposing

Unisys has published peer reviewed research proposing a framework for evaluating AI systems used in drug repurposing. The framework assesses mechanistic coherence, uncertainty, robustness, and provenance.
Unisys announced in a press release that its peer reviewed research on explainable AI for drug repurposing has been published in Frontiers in Pharmacology. The paper examines a neurosymbolic approach that combines AI methods with human knowledge and reasoning to make recommendations more transparent.
The research introduces the MURP framework, which evaluates mechanistic coherence, uncertainty, robustness, and provenance. It is designed to assess AI systems beyond predictive accuracy when they are used in healthcare and other regulated settings.
