Unisys announced in a press release that its peer reviewed research on explainable AI for drug repurposing has been published in Frontiers in Pharmacology. The paper examines a neurosymbolic approach that combines AI methods with human knowledge and reasoning to make recommendations more transparent.

The research introduces the MURP framework, which evaluates mechanistic coherence, uncertainty, robustness, and provenance. It is designed to assess AI systems beyond predictive accuracy when they are used in healthcare and other regulated settings.
