University of Illinois Springfield and Ed3 Offer AI Courses for Illinois Educators

The University of Illinois Springfield and Ed3 are offering online AI literacy and professional development courses for educators across Illinois.

University of Illinois Springfield and Ed3 announced in a press release that they will provide AI literacy and professional development courses for educators across Illinois. The program translates Illinois State Board of Education guidance on AI in schools into training for classroom use.

The self paced online courses became available on September 8, 2026. Educators can earn Professional Development Hours, Continuing Education Units, and stackable microcredentials.

The courses were developed jointly by Ed3 and the university's Center for Academic and Professional Education and ION eLearning program. They cover practical AI skills and the use of AI in teaching and learning for educators working from preschool through grade 12.
