US Signal Builds 1,000 Miles of Fiber to Support AI Infrastructure in Midwest
US Signal is constructing more than 1,000 miles of new, high-density fiber and conduit infrastructure across Ohio and Indiana, announced in a press release. The project expands the company’s middle-mile network to connect its core and edge data centers with scalable, AI-ready connectivity.
According to the company, about 30 percent of the network is already complete, with full completion expected by early 2027. The build follows Igneo Infrastructure Partners’ $200 million investment made in 2025 to support both fiber and data center expansion.
The new routes are being constructed with multi-conduit systems and high-count fiber to deliver scalability and durability for AI, cloud, and enterprise applications. The network interlinks US Signal’s existing data centers and will support the development of additional edge facilities along key routes.
This expansion strengthens US Signal’s position in the Midwest digital infrastructure market, providing dark fiber, lit services, and colocation connectivity as part of a multi-phase national growth strategy.
