Virtus Solis Signs 20 Year Space Solar Deal With Brae Systems

Virtus Solis will supply 100 MW of orbital solar power for Brae Systems' subsea data centers, with an option to expand capacity to 250 MW.

Virtus Solis and Brae Systems signed a 20 year power purchase agreement for orbital solar energy, the companies announced in a press release. The initial agreement covers 100 MW of continuous power for Brae Systems' subsea data center infrastructure.

Virtus Solis plans to transmit the energy through radio frequency power beaming to a receiving station that will be built in Illinois. The contracted capacity would provide 876,000 MWh annually, while an option allows Brae Systems to expand to 250 MW within three years of initial commercial operations.

Virtus Solis plans to hold a public technical demonstration in March 2027 to test its wireless power transfer system. The companies did not disclose when commercial power delivery will begin.
