Volvo Cars has significantly reduced simulation times for its EX90 electric vehicle by leveraging Ansys software and NVIDIA GPUs, achieving a 2.5x speed increase.

Volvo Cars has achieved a significant reduction in simulation times for its EX90 electric vehicle by utilizing Ansys software and NVIDIA GPUs. In a press release, it was announced that the collaboration has resulted in a 2.5x acceleration of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.

The integration of Ansys Fluent software with eight NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs has enabled Volvo Cars to cut down the total simulation run time from 24 hours to just 6.5 hours. This advancement allows for multiple design iterations per day, facilitating more optimization studies crucial for enhancing the range and efficiency of battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

By reducing aerodynamic drag through high-fidelity CFD models, Volvo Cars can design more efficient vehicles that travel farther on a single charge. This breakthrough not only accelerates the design process but also helps Volvo Cars meet critical emissions and efficiency standards.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
