Workday Agrees to Acquire C1.ai for Identity Governance

Oct 13, 2026
Workday signed an agreement to acquire C1.ai, adding tools that manage access to business systems for employees and AI agents.

Workday, Inc. signed an agreement to acquire C1.ai, the company announced in a press release. The acquisition will add identity governance for employees and AI agents to Workday.

C1.ai connects with email, customer management software, code repositories, finance systems, and cloud infrastructure. Its platform grants and removes access as employees join, change roles, or leave, and applies similar controls to AI agents.

Workday plans to integrate C1.ai with its Agent System of Record, extending the product from agent registration and management to access control across Workday and other business systems. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Workday's 2027 fiscal year, which ends January 31, 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.

It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
