Xtremis Wins Defense Innovation Unit Spectrum Strike Challenge

Xtremis said in a press release that its spectrumOS platform won the Defense Innovation Unit Spectrum Strike Prize Challenge. The challenge focuses on modernizing how the US military plans, coordinates and authorizes use of the electromagnetic spectrum. Xtremis said military spectrum authorizations can take 75 to 180 days and often depend on manual processes and disconnected systems.

Xtremis was selected from 43 respondents after a multistage evaluation that included a live demonstration at Fort Carson, Colorado. Government spectrum managers used spectrumOS to process operational data, model radio frequency conditions, identify potential conflicts and prepare authorization requests.

The platform combines agentic artificial intelligence, software automation, physics based radio frequency modeling and real time sensor data. Xtremis says it accelerates spectrum planning and coordination while maintaining human oversight, and that it builds on the company's Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Reconnaissance system, in use with US military and allied units since 2023.
