Zettabyte and Raku Plan Renewable Energy AI Data Centers in Asia

Zettabyte and Raku Advanced Tech signed an agreement to develop AI data center capacity powered by renewable energy in Asia, initially focusing on Taiwan and Thailand.

Zettabyte and Raku Advanced Tech signed a memorandum of understanding to develop AI data center capacity powered by renewable energy across Asia, Zettabyte said in a press release. The companies will start in Taiwan and Thailand, and say demand for AI computing in the region is outpacing local data center capacity.

Zettabyte will provide and operate GPU infrastructure for training and inference through its zSUITE platform. Raku Advanced Tech, a Taipei based smart energy and AI infrastructure integrator and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Taipei Exchange listed Raku Co., will develop the data centers and supply solar generation, energy storage and energy management.

Zettabyte chairman Kenneth Tai put the reasoning plainly: AI growth in Asia now depends as much on power as on compute. Raku Advanced Tech chairman Davis Chuang framed the split as one company building and powering the sites while the other operates the compute inside them.

This is a memorandum rather than a committed build. The companies plan to bring facilities online in phases and disclosed no deployment dates, no capacity figures and no investment.
